#5 Movie Review “The Sinking of Van Der Wijck”




In Batavia, Zainuddin had written several books went viral. His books always be missed and expected by the reader and viewers. His fans more and more addicted by the plot of his story. His presence on the writing sphere had brought new style of writing novel in the era. His new book such as “teroesir” hit the media and was published several times in short time.

Hayati enjoyed her new life as a wife. She used to alone while her husband out. Her husband has her excuse to go out because he said he was going to see client. Hayati dinner alone, bath alone, and all alone while her husband hideously playing in bar with several women. On the other hand, Zainuddin was striving to pursue his career.

One day hayati’s friend visited her. They had little chat, while they were chatting. Ida remembered that she had new roman. She showed the novel to hayati. Ida said, the story was very intrigued and very sad, very good and it was like the story between hayati and Zainuddin real life. Hayati took a look at novel and spoted alphabet Z as the author of the book. Hayati had feeling on the book. Ida handed the book to hayati. Night, hayati read the book until she slept soundly. Her husband came and called her name.

“Ati, Ati” called Aziz

Hayati slept soundly without notice her husband arrival. She wake up and found her husband was eating in the dinner room. Her waitress was pouring the water for her husband. She regregted her absency to welcome her husband by saying and muttering her regression.

“I am sorry Uda, I was sleeping”

“You are always late like this” said Aziz flatly

“This is the last and the first time I am absent. Forgive me please” said hayati anxiously

“Shut up, you the orang kampong!!!”

Hayati shocked and suddenly she went to her bed and dropped her tears.

Aziz came closer and asked forgiveness

“I am sorry hayati”

“Uda (A polite addressee term to call husband), your language agitated me. I am ease to vulnerable by your language. Please be humble and smooth your voice to me”

“ yes I am so sorry. Would you like ti move in Surabaya? I get promosed from my boss to move in surabaya”

They look at each other. Day after, they moved to Surabaya. At Batavia, a business man who has publisher and huge ware house offered zainuddin and his cousin those stuff to them. His cousin gestured yes, inevitably zainuddin said yes.

In Surabaya, zainudin was offered by ex-officer of netherland a mansion. His cousin said “This is huge house”. While Hayati and her husband were heading to a small house yet comfortable. Hayati dan zainuddin were living in the same city yet they didn’t know that. Till one day, an organizer organize a meeting for wandering people from padang. They asked Mr Sabir (a pen name for zainuddin and considering his new name) to be a host in the event. He allowed his house as a place to conduct the event. The event was so full of agenda. Such as opera soap of the novel, group dance, dancing, and dinner.
Invitation was disseminated around Surabaya. Mr. and Mrs. Aziz were invited. Hayati read the invitation and beg Aziz to accompany her in th opera. She missed to see padang people whom wandering in Surabaya. Aziz agreed. Due day, people were crowding and opera was so amazing spectacular and catched every eyes see it. Every single woman was in tears. Opera end, the MC called the author of the opera. Every single eye was antisiasm. The author called Mr Sabir to stand up in the stage then every camera run after him.

Roger Fowler merupakan salah seorang dari kelompok aliran Linguistik Eropa Kontinental. Kehadiran mereka ditandai dengan munculnya buku language and Central (1979).pendekatan yang mereka lakukan kemudian dikenal sebagai critical Lingusitics.
